Could you please identify this mark. This is a butter pat plate, I think (about 3 inches in diameter)

It has a tag which says 1907, that is handwritten on the back with the artist / factory mark. Thank you

Is new, not hand-painted, (only blue edge and mark with brush), ceramic adhesive plate (silkscreen), inlaze technique, three oven courses, made at the Velsen pottery factory, Sassenheim, province of South Holland, the Netherlands, second half of the twentieth century, greeting jvdh.

Verdict:

  • Not Delftware

Analysis:

  • Not made in Delft The term Delftware is only used for earthenware actually produced in Delft. Read more
  • More recent production technique After 1850, factories in and outside Holland developed more efficient and cheaper production techniques. This goes beyond the scope of this website. Read more
  • Hand-painted An important characteristic of authentic Delftware is that it is hand-painted. Printing techniques do not occur on this earthenware. Read more
  • Mark of a non-Delft pottery/factory The typical Delftware also inspires producers outside of Delft, but genuine Delftware has only been produced in Delft. Read more

Nogmaals, is beslist niet handgeschilderd zoals de redacteur schrijft, maar plakplaat (zeefdruk), groet, jvdh.

Again, is definitely not hand-painted as the editor writes, but decal (silkscreen), greeting, jvdh.
