Small pancake plate

Plate with bright white background and deep rich fine hand painted decoration. No leg rim underneath. Just rounded base. Slight chips on rim. Seems good quality in colours and craftmanship. One of a pair.

Verdict:

  • Not Delftware

Analysis:

  • Not made in Delft The term Delftware is only used for earthenware actually produced in Delft. Read more
  • More recent production technique After 1850, factories in and outside Holland developed more efficient and cheaper production techniques. This goes beyond the scope of this website. Read more
  • Hand-painted An important characteristic of authentic Delftware is that it is hand-painted. Printing techniques do not occur on this earthenware. Read more
  • Can not be determined based on current information To properly assess this object, more information or more or better photos are needed.

From the images I feel this is a later imitation and not an original antique. If so, it was made around 1900.
