Has nothing to do with authentic delft pottery, it is new, not hand-painted, printed matter (silkscreen? decal?), I don't know when it was made, the brand is unknown to me, I'm guessing 20th century, waiting for an expert for more data, no value given here, see terms and conditions, greeting jvdh.

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your message and assessment of my plate. I think that the pictures presented before weren't too good. I tried to make more pics showing the texture of the paint which can be felt under your fingertipsPaint texture (looking best on the window and the cart) plus the colours were not true. In real it is nice deep blue color all around. I found some inconsistencies of the pattern on the edges suggesting it was not fabricated but painted. Have another look.  Thank you,  Krys

Dear Jan,

The other picture with full colours of the plate in question. Full colours

Groet jvdh.

Dear Krys, thank you for your photos (twelve megapixels), dissecting the center clearly shows that it is not a pottery painting, the original (possibly a painting) has been photographically broken apart into several layers, probably with graphic film ( hard gradation) and then converted with several layers of ceramic paint (different shades of blue, from light to darker) to a ceramic plaque, the edge decoration also betrays printing, some hand puncture has been applied in the flowers, see also the stroke leaves. The eight pieces of the eight-sided border are exactly identical, with hand painting there are always small differences. Also with adhesive plate you can of course sometimes and sometimes not feel the paint, as it were, just ceramic paint (oxides), just like painting, can withstand 1000 degrees Celsius and higher. The brand is perfectly placed graphically. Greetings jvdh.''''

Beoordeling:

  • Niet vast te stellen

Toelichting:

Dear Krys Norbert,

the plate is inspired by the antique Delft earthenware and old master paintings but it's date is not as old, as suggested by Jan van den Heuvel probably 20th century. The mark and the factory production history is not known to us, so unfortunetaly we cannot provide you with further information. If any visitors to this website would know more about De Oude Molen Fabriek bv, please let us know. As discussed by Jan van den Heuvel we agree that based on the photos it seems to have a transfer- or screen-printed pattern. Thank you for sharing your blue and white plate from South Africa!
